Founder and Chief Product Development Officer

Primal Pet Foods

Matt Koss founded Primal Pet Foods in 2001 with a mission to help improve the overall health and happiness of our pets through species appropriate nutrition. Although he started his career as a trained chef in San Francisco, Matt found a way to bring his culinary expertise to the pet industry. When his dog, Luna, started experiencing health issues, he took the advice of a holistic veterinarian and started preparing food in his own kitchen for Luna. Matt quickly saw the improvements in her health and was determined to share his solution with other pet parents. Over the last 20 years, Primal has become a leader in the raw and freeze-dried pet food category, and Matt has continued to innovate and introduce new products to help make raw nutrition more accessible and convenient for pets and their parents.
